Voice and Numbers
Voice calling in oHallo works through a Voice channel: a phone number bound to the voice assistant that answers calls in your brand’s voice. You set voice up from Channels, and the phone number is ordered and bound as part of that flow. The Numbers page is a separate, admin-only inventory view of the numbers your organisation holds.
Setting up a voice line
Section titled “Setting up a voice line”Voice lines are created from Channels, not from Numbers. To add one:
- Go to Settings, then Channels.
- Select Add channel and choose the Voice type. The wizard describes it as binding a phone number to the voice assistant that answers calls in your brand’s voice.
- Give the channel a display name and choose the workspace it belongs to.
- Pick a phone number. If your organisation already holds a spare number, select it from the portfolio. If not, order a new one as part of this flow.
- Review and create the channel. Ordering a number binds it to the new Voice channel automatically, so you do not need a separate assignment step.
Once the Voice channel is active, inbound calls to that number are answered by the assistant and appear in the Calls section of the dashboard. For call handling and how the assistant hands off to a person, see Calls.
The Numbers page
Section titled “The Numbers page”Numbers is an admin-only inventory view. It is visible to owners and admins under Settings, and it gives cross-workspace oversight of the phone numbers your organisation leases: their cost, status, and release. Numbers are acquired when you add a Voice channel, so this page is for oversight and clean-up rather than day-to-day setup.
Each number in the inventory shows its country, the number itself, its current status, and the workspace it serves.
Number statuses
Section titled “Number statuses”| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Provisioned | The number has been ordered and is ready to use. |
| Assigned | The number is bound to a Voice channel and is actively receiving calls. |
| Releasing | The number is being released and will stop receiving calls once the release completes. |
| Released | The number has been fully released and is no longer available. |
Releasing a number
Section titled “Releasing a number”If your organisation no longer needs a number, an admin can release it from the Numbers inventory. Releasing is permanent: once released, the number may be leased to someone else by the provider and cannot be recovered. Update any published contact information before you release a number.
Multiple countries
Section titled “Multiple countries”oHallo supports phone numbers in multiple countries, so you can offer customers a familiar local number in each market you operate in. Numbers in different countries appear together in the inventory, each tied to the workspace it serves.
